Collecting and using personal information:
The security of your personal information is important to us. The use of information collected through our service shall be limited to the purpose of providing the service for you as the lawyer or individual having engaged with SMS. We collect personal information from you through e-mails that you send us and forms that you complete. We follow strict security procedures in the processing, storage and disclosure of information you have supplied to us. Sensitive information is stored within the hospital administration system and any paper copies are filed appropriately and held within our locked office spaces.

SMS does not share any individual or corporate information except for the purpose of providing the services that have been requested. With your consent we will share your client personal information with a limited number of third parties only in the ways that are described in this privacy policy.

  1. For other experts to prepare additional medicolegal reports
  2. For the purposes of agreed medical investigations within BMI and occasionally at other healthcare centres

We will retain your information in line with legislation for retention of medical records.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others outside Specialist Medicolegal or any associated companies. We do not share our mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers or partners, except where you have provided permission to do so.

For Clients
From our website, you may choose to provide personal information to us when you fill out a client questionnaire or request for us to contact you. You may be asked to provide certain information about yourself including your name, age, title, postal address, telephone number and/or email address. If you are attending a consultation at one of our clinics, you may also be asked to provide information about your medical history.

For medico legal instructions, if you seek an estimate of costs for a report or other work or if you become a client of the company, we will also need information to confirm your identity e.g. your date of birth, details about your circumstances as well as contact information for you and other parties related to the matter. The information that we need will be explained to you and set out in our letter of engagement depending on the nature of your matter.

Most changes are for additional clarity and will not affect the quality of our service.
